Q100's long-time afternoon host Johnny O is leaving for the historical beach town of Charleston, S.C.

Johnny O - real name Johnny O'Leary - came to Q100 about nine years ago. He will be program director and on-air host at top 40 station 95SX (WSSX-FM), a sister Cumulus station, doing the same 3 to 7 p.m. shift.

O'Leary said he wanted to get into programming and this was a great opportunity in a wonderful town. "And how can you go wrong with our huge heritage station in Charleston! On the beach!! I'm certainly going to miss Atlanta like crazy but this next adventure will be awesome."

The Charleston station, which was in fourth place in the last Nielsen Audio ratings book, has played variations of pop music since the early 1980s.

Johnny O's boss Rob Roberts is leaving as well. He has been promoted to vice president of Hot AC for Atlanta-based Cumulus after more than a decade at Q100 and will move to D.C. Louie Diaz takes his place in Atlanta as operatioins manager for the entire Atlanta cluster and PD of Q100 itself.

"I love Johnny," Roberts wrote in a text . He's been my right and left hand for nine years and a big part of the success of Q100."

Bert Weiss, the long-time morning host at Q100 since 2001, said this is a "wonderful move for him. That station is a powerhouse in Charleston and a great city for him for a first PD gig."
