E! News: Bobby Brown files suit to stop TV One Bobbi Kristina biopic

Bobby Brown has filed a lawsuit trying to stop a TV One biopic about his late daughter Bobbi Kristina from seeing the light of day.

According to E! News, he claims that TV One and the producers of the film "knowingly and maliciously" used his persona and life in the film. He also said the movie provides defamatory content, based on what he knows about the script, including inferences that he did not love his daughter, abused the late Whitney Houston and was a rampant drug user.

Besides attempting to keep the film from airing, he is seeking $1 million in damages.

The film, which focuses on Bobbi Kristina's life after her mom's 2012 death up to the point where she herself passes in 2015, is set to come out October 8 and the network recently released a trailer.

The legal bar is set high for public figures like Brown to win a case like this. TV One provided this response:

"We are aware of the reported legal challenge by Bobby Brown regarding the film Bobbi Kristina and are taking appropriate steps on behalf of our network to respond. While we are not able to address our legal response at this time, we stand by the film and its representation of this period in Bobbi Kristina's life."

The movie depicts Joy Rovaris as Bobbi Kristina, actor Hassan Johnson as Bobby Brown, Vivica A. Fox as Pat Houston, Nadji Jeter as Nick Gordon and Demetria McKinney as Whitney Houston.
