Life after 'American Idol': Paula Abdul, Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, LaToya London

This was posted on Friday, March 17, 2017 by Rodney Ho on his AJC Radio & TV Talk blog

Paula Abdul is playing a version of herself in an NBC comedy pilot that could potentially air during the 2017-18 season.

According to

Written by Kourney Kang, based on her life, and to be directed by Fred Savage, the untitled comedy centers on young Katie (Isabella Russo) and explores what it’s like to grow up as the only girl in the only mixed-race family in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She deals with real-world issues like race and gender while never losing focus of her life goal: to become a Laker Girl like her idol Paula Abdul. Abdul will play what’s described as a “fun, imaginary friend version of herself.”

Abdul, who is also prepping for a summer tour with New Kids on the Block, came to Atlanta a few times to play a dream version of herself on "Drop Dead Diva" back in the 2009-2011 period. But she has not done a lot of acting over the years.

Billboard reviewed Carrie Underwood's biggest hits, led by "Before He Cheats," of course.

Ryan Seacrest is planning a line of skincare and grooming products.

According to People magazine, he is working with Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Harold Lancer to release men’s products under the label Polished by Dr. Lancer.

"I have been a patient of Dr. Lancer’s for more than a decade,” Seacrest, 42, told PeopleStyle. “His unparalleled understanding of dermatology and compassionate care for his patients is what sets him apart. Dr. Lancer has also educated me about the overall health benefits of taking care of your skin.”

Seacrest introduced a menswear line in 2014  in Macy's.

Season 12 winner Candice Glover released a new single "My Mistake." You can listen here.

Haley Reinhart received a plaque for selling 500,000 copies of her cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love," featured in an Extra gum ad.

LaToya London, who finished fourth season three, will be a judge at the Key West Cocktail Classic in Atlanta Thursday, March 30 from 7 to 10 p.m..

It's an LGBT bartender competition held at Mixx Bar at 1492 Piedmont Ave NE in Midtown. LaToya is scheduled to perform.
