Fox is giving Atlanta-based medical drama "The Resident" another year of life with a second season.

The show - starring Matt Czuchry and Emily VanCamp -  has averaged more than 10 million multi-platform viewers per episode and improves its year-ago time period by 31 percent in the key Adults 18-49 demographic, according to Fox. It airs Mondays at 9 p.m. with the season finale set for next week.

Overall, it's been a good run for Atlanta-produced broadcast shows recently.

Among other shows already renewed: Fox's "The Gifted," the CW's "Black Lightning" and "Dynasty" and CBS's "MacGyver." Both Fox's "Star" and NBC's "Good Girls" are also looking solid. We'll know their fates by next week.

Unfortunately, ABC's "Kevin (Probably) Saves the World"  starring Jason Ritter  is unlikely to get a green light for a second season while the CW's "Valor" looked dead in the water pretty early on. (The CW's "The Originals" is in its final season, as previously announced.)
