Did Atlanta native Erika Jayne survive week 5 on 'Dancing With the Stars'?

Atlanta native Erika Jayne ("Real Housewives of Beverly Hills") was the fourth celebrity cut from "Dancing With the Stars" this season Monday.

For anyone following the show, her departure was widely expected. The MJ's Big Blog poll indicated 84 percent of fans predicted her departure entering the episode.

Jayne is a markedly better dancer than the three previous celebrities cut (Chris Kattan, Charo and Mr. T) and actually had a higher average judge score than two of the dudes (model and bull rider Bonner Bolton and "Bachelor" Nick Viall).

But the voters tend to get rid of ladies like Jayne before dudes like Bolton and Viall. That's been a basic pattern over 24 seasons. Mediocre male dancers have a better shot at surviving (think Bill Engvall or Jerry Springer) than okay female dancers (more examples than I can count.).

Jayne is sexy for sure but not as warm and relatable as many celebrities trying to garner votes on the show.

On the bright side, she ended on a high note, finishing with an elegant Disney-themed Viennesse Waltz Monday night that drew 8's from all four judges. The judges agreed that this was the first time they saw a more vulnerable side of Jayne, that the more emotional side of her finally came out.

She scored higher than Bolton and former Atlanta Brave David Ross. But 50 percent of the score are from public votes and her cha cha last week didn't help her on that front. The waltz was a week too late to save her.
