Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas finally filed divorce papers in February

Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" fame have been separated for more than nine months. They are not yet officially divorced despite what Bailey said on Sunday's episode on April 2.

But they're getting close. I spoke to Daniel Meachum, who represents Bailey, and he provided me the official filing to the Fulton County Superior Court from February 21. He said it's been an amicable split and based on what we've seen on the TV show, that appears to be the case. He expects the filing to be finalized by the court later this month.

He said for various unspecified reasons, the couple held off until 2017 to file the papers but said there were no major disputes over the division of real estate and personal property. It simplifies matters that there are no custody issues since they had no children between them. (Bailey has her a daughter from a previous relationship.)

"There are no prospects for reconciliation," according to the filing, which Bailey is the technical plaintiff.

In October, before season 9 of the show began, Bailey told me she was doing a settlement agreement with Thomas. "It’s going to be a pretty simple divorce," she said at the time. "I’m dealing with this divorce as best as I can. I have no interest in dragging Peter through the mud or being disrespectful in regards to our marriage. A lot of great things came from our marriage. That’s what I choose to focus on. You’ll get to see how that plays out. Not many reality TV marriages peacefully move on.

The couple married in July, 2010 on second season of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" at the Fernbank museum. On the show, she said she simply had a hard time being a wife and it was clearly her decision to leave the marriage.

Thomas now lives in Charlotte, N.C. Bailey moved to a new lakeside home in Atlanta last fall and sold her Glenwood Park home.
