Two A-list comedic legends - Dave Chappelle and Jon Stewart - are joining forces at the Tabernacle for seven shows in August.

To minimize bots and scalpers, Ticketmaster is using its "Verified Fan" system starting today through Thursday at 10 p.m. (Sign up here.) Once registered, you can buy tickets starting on Saturday, July 21 at 10 a.m. Prices range from $79.50 to $169.50.

They will have one show a night from August 10 through 15. Expect them to sell briskly. UPDATE on AUGUST 1: As of today, there are still tickets available for all seven shows at face value with the most open seats for the Tuesday, August 14th 10 p.m. show. In every case, there are super pricey tickets available in the first few rows if you want to spend $200-plus after feese. In other cases, you might find a single seat here and there. Else, you'll have to search the Stubhubs of the world. There were no review tickets available and I needed to go to the first show. I didn't want to bankrupt our company so I got literally the worst seats in the house in the fourth level for $150.

Chappelle - who was just in Atlanta over the weekend and did a two-and-a-half free set at 12:30 a.m. late Saturday night at the 80-seat Laughing Skull Loungesold out 12 shows at the Tabernacle last year.

I don’t think Stewart done stand-up in Atlanta since 2008.

When I interviewed the former “Daily Show” host in 2008 for his Cobb Energy show, I asked him who he preferred for president from a comedic standpoint. He gave me this somewhat prescient comment:

I guess Mr. T. If he were running, that'd be funny. We actually try not to view it in terms of who's the most amusing. That would probably also be the most corrosive candidate.

Note: your smartphone will be placed in a special locked Yondr magnetic pouch during the show. You won't be able to use it during the show inside the venue to prevent anyone from audio or video taping the show.
