Atlanta rap star 2 Chainz is starring in his own Viceland show "Most Expensivest," which is a Bourdain-esque show about living like the top 1/10th of the one percent. Robin Leach would be impressed.
The show, which debuts Wednesday, November 15, features the 30-year-old star checking out the most expensive food, booze, and luxury goods the producers could find. In the first episode, he took fine-meats enthusiast/rapper/chef Action Bronson out for a super expensive Japanese Wagyu steak dinner at New York City's Old Homestead Steakhouse. ($350 for a 12-ounce steak.)
"It's about treating yourself," he said on the show's intro.
In terms of the steak, chef Marc Sherry on the show called it "decadent, dripping out of your mouth, taste coming like fireworks... you don't need a knife, take a fork and eat it." He said he sells the only Wagyu steak outside of the United States and began doing so in 1991. (Odd point: 2 Chainz hasn't eaten beef since he was 13 years old!)
Then he brings out a wings dish that costs $4,900, 14 times more than the steak. (Yes, it includes pricey wine, foie gras, truffles and caviar.)
Later, he consumed an edible gold-flecked doughnut. Indeed. That's a thing. Price? $1,000! And he tries some pricey cigars.
During "The Daily Show" Tuesday night promoting the show, 2 Chainz name-checked his hometown College Park and how he briefly pondered running for mayor in 2015. He told host Trevor Noah he couldn't meet some of the basic requirements, like actually living there. (College Park doesn't exactly have multi-million-dollar mansions for rap stars.)
If he were able to be mayor, he'd try to legalize marijuana (though a mayor couldn't actually do that.) He'd also open a 24-hour athletic center for kids to keep them out of trouble.
