On Sunday, HBO concludes the seventh season of its biggest show "Game of Thrones," with the eighth season set up for 2018.

At the same time, MTV is airing its annual celebration of the things it used to air: music videos. It's the one remaining vestige of its original past. Katy Perry hosts. Kendrick Lamar has the most nominees. Performers include Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Fifth Harmony, Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran.

On Saturday night, Showtime does a documentary about the life of Whitney Houston more than five years since her tragic death.

Otherwise, there isn't much fresh this week beyond Amazon's superpower comedy "The Tick" and Netflix's Kathy Bates pot-themed comedy "Disjointed," both on Friday.
