Bert Weiss nominated for 2017 National Radio Hall of Fame

Bert Weiss, the head of the syndicated show the Bert Show based and heard locally on Q100, has been nominated for the National Radio Hall of Fame.

"It seems like a dream," he wrote on his Facebook page. "I don't even really know what to say 'cause it doesn't seem like my life."

He said "it feels strangely unworthy of such a prestigious honor. And I'm not being fake humble about it."

Two local radio personalities from Atlanta have previously been inducted to a Hall of Fame that includes Dick Clark, Paul Harvey, Bob Hope, Larry King, Casey Kasem, Rush Limbaugh, Howard Stern and Rick Dees. Neal Boortz was inducted in 2009. Clark Howard entered the Hall in 2015.

Weiss began his show in 2001 on Q100 and went into syndication in 2010.

He wrote on Facebook that he's "super proud of what the show has done in 16 years. In radio years, that's a lifetime. And I'm super proud that we've done it on one station in one city. But Hall of Fame? Guess it's hard to look back all the years at this point. Radio doesn't really allow you to look at the past or even stay in the moment cause you're rated every day."

Weiss was nominated in the "Active Network/Syndication" field competing with former Atlantan Sean Hannity, now on Fox News and heard in syndicated radio form on News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB; Nanci Donnellan of "The Fabulous Sports Babe"; and Diane Rehm from "The Diane Rehm Show."

Former Dunwoody resident Ryan Seacrest is nominated in the "Music Format On -Air Personality" category.

Winners will be announced June 26 and a ceremony will be held Nov. 2.
