A 31-year-old construction project manager Alex Templeman is one of 28 men vying for the next "Bachelorette" Becca Kufrin debuting Monday, May 28 on ABC. [UPDATE May 28: He made the first cut and is now in the top 22 but he left a minimal impression based on the ABC edit. UPDATE: June 5: He was cut in the second week. The dude ended up with about 15 seconds of total air time.]
The ABC series, in its 14th incarnation, has been a reliable summer spin-off of the original "The Bachelor." In 2014, the series featured Atlanta attorney Andi Dorfman, who ended up picking a fellow Atlantan Josh Murray but their engagement didn't last and she torched him in a best-selling book in 2016.
There's no doubt some people cast on the show actually do seek love while many are there in part to gain screen time and perhaps a touch of fame. Plus, it's effectively an audition for the next season because in recent years, the next "Bachelor" or "Bachelorette" has come from the pool of rejected suitors from the previous season of the other show.
So even if Templeman doesn't end up being Kufrin's beau by season's end, he could very well end up as the 23rd "Bachelor" next season.
Chris Harrison, the host during a Facebook video intro, said Templeman has a "Tom Brady thing going on here," based on his photo, and notes he's a "self-proclaimed country music lover."
According to Templeman's Linkedin page, Templeman is a project manager at Greater Georgia Concrete, a job he started in August, 2016. He has worked in construction for more than a decade.
He graduated Georgia Southern University in 2010 with a Bachelors in Science & Technology, then a Masters in Science & Technology in 2015 at Southern Polytechnic State University.
His Instagram page shows a man who likes to scuba dive, hang out on the beaches of Florida and partying on boats on Lake Lanier. He has a picture from Christmas 2016 with family in Clearwater, Fla. and plenty more shots from that city. He also appears to own a dog.
His Facebook public page says he lives in Dunwoody and is from Alpharetta, having attended Centennial High School.
