The plane reportedly involved in this morning's crash at I-285 at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard was registered to a private business in North Carolina, according to flight aware. The plane was reportedly a single-engine Piper Cherokee 6 out of Asheville, NC., registered to an LLC company.

Patt Epps, who said his company fueled the plan,  saw the unidentified owner just before the incident.

“He just came in to pick up a couple of folks and a dog,” said Pat Epps, founder of Epps Aviation at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport.

Four people died in the crash, which occurred about  10 a.m. Traffic is shut down on the busy interstate in both directions. Authorities are asking people to sit tight while they are working to get drivers diverted off the interstate safely.

The pilot reportedly said, “We’re going down.”
