A glimmer of happiness for Prince fans – The Revolution is returning.

The group posted a video message on member Brown Mark's Facebook page to alert fans that they plan to perform some tribute shows in honor of their deceased former boss.

In the video, drummer Bobby Z., guitarist Wendy Melvoin, keyboardists Lisa Coleman, Matt “Doctor” Fink and bassist Mark gather on a couch for the announcement.

"We have decided after spending three or four days together now grieving over the loss of Prince that we would like to come out and do some shows. We want to let you know that we'll be there soon, so we want to let you know now,” said Melvoin, who replaced original guitarist Dez Dickerson after Prince’s “1999” tour in 1982-83.

The reunited group, which started in Minneapolis in 1979 with Andre Cymone on bass and Gayle Chapman on keyboard, served as Prince’s backing band at the start of his career, though they weren’t christened The Revolution until Prince’s 1984 movie, “Purple Rain.”

Dates and locations for The Revolution performances haven’t been announced yet.

This weekend, Purple Xperience, featuring Fink on keyboards, is performing at both locations of 37 Main . The band will play at 9 p.m. April 29 at the Buford location and at 10 p.m. April 30 at the John's Creek outpost. Tickets for both shows start at $19.99
