On April 21, a year will have passed since Prince's untimely death shocked the music world.
His demise at the age of 57 - later revealed as the result of an accidental opioid overdose - came exactly a week after he thrilled concertgoers with two shows at the Fox Theatre.

For the next few days, AJC video producer Ryon Horne and I will be in Minneapolis to report on the scene in Prince's hometown during this week of remembrance and celebration. We'll visit some of his favorite haunts and his Paisley Park compound, talk to fans, members of The Revolution and other musicians, such as Georgia native Lizz Wright, who Prince saw in concert two nights before his death.
Also throughout the week, we'll post a daily video of an Atlanta-based artist remembering Prince and the influence of his music.
To kick off the series, Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor talks about his earliest memories of "Purple Rain" as well as how Prince was a model of "how you carry yourself through the music business."
