Paul Simon farewell tour will play Atlanta in the fall

Paul Simon will visit Atlanta one last time this fall.

The legendary singer-songwriter has announced the final leg of his “Homeward Bound – The Farewell Tour” and will swing through town at 8 p.m. Sept. 12 with a show at Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood.

Tickets, priced at $39.50-$175, will go on sale at 10 a.m. March 16 via www.livenation.com and by calling 1-800-745-3000. A Live Nation pre-sale begins at 10 a.m. March 15.

Simon, 76, will being his goodbye with a show in Vancouver on May 16 and call the tour - and his career - a wrap, fittingly, in his hometown of New York City with a trio of concerts Sept. 20-22.

After announcing his first run of dates in February, Simon said, “I’ve often wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I'd consider bringing my performing career to a natural end. Now I know: it feels a little unsettling, a touch exhilarating and something of a relief. I love making music, my voice is still strong, and my band is a tight, extraordinary group of gifted musicians. I think about music constantly. I am very grateful for a fulfilling career and, of course, most of all to the audiences who heard something in my music that touched their hearts.”

Simon performed at Chastain Amphitheatre last summer and at the Fox Theatre in 2016.
