Prepare for “A Lovely Night” when the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra tackles the score of “La La Land” this fall.
While it won’t be as elaborate as the “La La Land in Concert: A Live-to-Film Celebration” announced earlier this month at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in May (those shows will include the film’s composer Justin Hurwitz conducting the score with a 100-piece orchestra, choir and jazz ensemble), the touring version of this paean to the musical will present the ASO playing the “La La Land” score along to the film.
Tickets for the Oct. 25-26 screenings at Atlanta Symphony Hall will go on sale at noon March 31 via www.ticketmaster.com, the Woodruff Arts Center box office and by calling 1-800-745-3000. Prices range from $39-$89.
The film, which earned six Oscars including best original score and best original song (for “City of Stars”) isn’t the only movie score that the ASO will present live this season. Titles including “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “Jurassic Park” and “Nightmare Before Christmas” are on sale now as a three-concert subscription package.
