Jermaine Dupri’s ‘So So Def’ 25th anniversary tour will help open new Philips Arena this fall

The first concert to be held in the transformed Philips Arena will have a hometown flair.

The Jermaine Dupri-fronted "So So Def 25th Anniversary Cultural Curren$y Tour" will land at the venue on Oct. 21.

Joining Dupri, an integral driver of Atlanta's musical landscape, will be Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, Bone Crusher, Youngbloodz, Dem Franchise Boyz and J-Kwon. Tickets for the show, priced at $59-$150, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 3 via www.ticketmaster.com and by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Fans who purchase the compilation album “Jermaine Dupri Presents So So Def 25,” which includes hits from Da Brat (“Funkdafied”), Xscape (“Just Kickin’ It”) and rare tracks featuring Kanye West and The Notorious B.I.G., will gain access to a pre-sale running from 10 a.m. Aug. 1 through 10 p.m. Aug. 2.

The tour kicks off Oct. 14 in Washington D.C., and plays a handful of dates through early November.

The anniversary tour of the Atlanta-based label is an appropriate concert opener for Philips Arena, which is currently undergoing the final phases of a $192.5 million makeover. Last week, it was announced that the venue will follow the smart lead of neighboring Mercedes-Benz Stadium with a "fan-friendly pricing" menu at its concession stands.
