Free ticket giveaway: Umphrey's McGee at Tabernacle

[Congrats to randomly selected winner Taylor K.!]

BY MELISSA RUGGIERI/AJC Music Scene

Everybody get some holiday rest?

OK, good. Time for my first ticket giveaway of 2017.

Umphrey’s McGee is bringing its chameleonic sounds to the Tabernacle for a three-night stand Jan. 13-15. Thanks to the generous crew at the venue, I have a pair of three-day passes to give away.

If you’d like to buy tickets to the show, they are $35 for each night. Tickets can be purchased here.

The band, by the way, is touring behind its latest release, “Zonkey,” an experimental album consisting of mashups of songs from ZZ Top, AC/DC, Nirvana, Beastie Boys and more – so you know every show will be different.

To enter:

Zip me an email at mruggieri@ajc.com by 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11. Please do not enter if you cannot attend and please, only one entry per email address.

You must put “Umphrey’s tickets” in the subject line or I will not see your email. If you tell me anything other than “Umphrey’s tickets,” I will not see your email and you will have absolutely no chance of winning.

I will randomly select — and contact — a winner on the evening of Jan. 11. I will also post the winning name here once I’ve received confirmation.

While this isn’t a requirement, I would really appreciate a follow on Twitter or Facebook .

Good luck!

Some vegetables easily tolerate cold weather

Q: My cabbage and lettuce crops are looking great even though we have had colder than normal weather. What range can they stand before being frozen out? Garden Detective: Why do cucumbers turn orange?
Garden Detective: Why do cucumbers turn orange?

Dear Jessica: Last year around this time we had pumpkins out and left them for the squirrels to eat. The seeds were left to grow. We started our cucumbers from seeds in the house in April, and once they sprouted we planted them where the pumpkins had been. In time, we started to get “cucumkins.” I didn’t see any pumpkins or cucumbers...
