12 Days of Christmas giveaway Day 5: Free tickets to The Beach Boys at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre

[Congrats to randomly selected winner Andrew P.!]

BY MELISSA RUGGIERI/AJC Music Scene

Back to music – and a little nostalgia – for Day 5 of the 12 Days of Christmas giveaway.

The Beach Boys – fronted by Mike Love – are celebrating more than 50 years in music and bringing their celebratory tour to Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

Thanks to the good folks at the venue, I have a pair of tickets to give away for the band’s performance at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25.

If you’re interested in buying, tickets for the show are on sale now for $46-$86 and can be purchased here.

To enter to win the free pair:

Email me at mruggieri@ajc.com by 6 p.m. Dec. 19 (you will receive my “out of office” message, but be assured that I have received your entry). Please do not enter if you cannot attend and please, only one entry per email address.

You must put “Day 5” in the subject line or I will not see your email. If you tell me, “I sing ‘Barbara Ann’ at karaoke every week!” or anything other than “Day 5,” I will not see your email and you will have absolutely no chance of winning.

I will randomly select — and contact — a winner on Dec. 19. I will also post the winning name here once I’ve received confirmation.

While this isn’t a requirement, I would really appreciate a follow on  Twitter  or  Facebook .

Good luck!

Irreversible muscle damage linked to statins

Q: Several weeks ago, you wrote about the side effects of cholesterol-lowering statin medicines. According to the article, these drugs can attack muscle tissue, and the damage may be irreversible. That is what happened to me. I now need to use a cane when I walk, and I worry that someday I might need a wheelchair. I took statins for only a short time...

Where to find snow and fun near Atlanta this holiday season

More than just a song about the ones you used to know, a white Christmas can be magical. Snowflakes create the chance for snowball fights, fireside romance and everything in between. Living in Georgia, though, means a winter wonderland isn't very likely – and you might be stuck in traffic anyway. Luckily, if you've got your two front teeth...

Debbie Newton wants her son, Dorian, to experience everything life has to offer — just like any other child. Movies. Plays. Children’s concerts. Even a visit with Santa. Those simple activities, though, can be challenging for parents of children with autism. Dorian, 6, was diagnosed with autism about six months ago. Two of Newton&rsquo...
