Atlanta Concerts this week: Kendrick Lamar, Dave Matthews Band, U2



The Championship Tour with Kendrick Lamar

Coroneted earlier this year with a quartet of Grammy Awards, Lamar is rounding up the Top Dawg Entertainment roster — SZA, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Sir and Lance Skiiiwalker — for a collaborative tour. Chances are fans will get to see him perform for more than the eight minutes he played the last time he visited Atlanta.

Dave Matthews Band

There is suddenly a lot going on in DMB world. The band formally cut ties with longtime member Boyd Tinsley after he was sued for sexual harassment (earlier this year, Tinsley announced he was taking a break from the band, a move that has now apparently become permanent). And on June 8, DMB will release its first new album since 2012, called “Come Tomorrow.” The band plans to perform some of the new material on its tour, which launched May 18.

ATL Soul Life Music Fest

The two-day festival will celebrate a soulful sound with performances from Ledisi (on May 26) and Lalah Hathaway (on May 27). Joining the bill with Ledisi are Eric Benét, Raheem DeVaughn and Anthony David. The Hathaway day also includes Will Downing, Avery Sunshine and Eric Roberson.

Believe it or not, it’s been nearly a decade since the Irish superstars played Atlanta. They will return for an intimate stop on their “Experience + Innocence” tour, which is promoting the worthy “Songs of Experience,” which bowed in December.
