In 2004, the Allman Brothers Band rocked the Fox Theatre for three sold-out shows, and the reception spurred them to record what would become their final studio album, "Hittin' the Note."

Those three concerts, which the band always regarded as some of their best, were released at the time via the “Instant Live” program – either at the shows or afterward through Internet mail order.

On March 24 and April 28, the Allmans will release the digital and physical versions, respectively, of those shows as "The Fox Box." The eight-CD set features a remastered audio mix, and, of note to dedicated fans, of the 53 songs presented, only "Dreams" is repeated (it was performed at all three shows). However, each night spotlighted a different guitar soloist - Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and Jack Pearson.

Also in the band at the time were, of course, Gregg Allman, the recently deceased Butch Trucks and Jaimoe Johanson, along with Marc Quinones and Oteil Burbridge. Other guests include Derek Trucks' bandmate/wife Susan Tedeschi, guitarist Vaylor Trucks (Butch's son who was captured on the rear cover of "Brothers & Sisters as a child) and keyboardist Rob Baracco (Phil Lesh Quintet/Other Ones).
