Walton debuts at the top of the state’s highest classification after defeating No. 2 Lassiter last season to take the crown. The win marked the 10th title in Walton history gives it six of the last seven. Lassiter was vying for its first. Lambert, which fell to Lassiter in the semifinals, holds the No. 3 spot.

In AAAAAA, top-ranked Harrison dropped just one game, to No. 2 Alpharetta, throughout the championship bracket to take home its second state title, the first since 2006. Alpharetta, which squeaked past Cambridge 3-2 in the semifinals, takes the No. 2 spot. Cambridge, which nearly moved past Alpharetta, is third.

After reclassification, Buford moved from Class AAAA to AAAAA and successfully defended its title, earning the top spot in AAAAA entering 2017. It marked the second title for the Lady Wolves. McIntosh, which fell 3-1 to Buford in the championship set, holds the No. 2 spot. The Lady Chiefs were vying for their third title, their first since 2013. Whitewater, which fell to local rival McIntosh in the semifinals, holds the third spot.

In Class AAAA, Blessed Trinity, who moved up from AAA after reclassification, took the AAAA crown in 2016 and holds the top-spot entering the season. The win marked the sixth title for Blessed Trinity and five of the last seven, four of those in AAA, one in AA/A. Woodward Academy, who fell to Blessed Trinity in the championship set, holds the No. 2 spot.

Westminster holds the top spot in Class AAA after winning its seventh title and the first since 2008 in Class AA/A. The Lady Wildcats defeated No. 2 Pace Academy 3-1 in the championship set last season. Lovett, which fell to Pace Academy 3-2 in the semifinals, is third.

St. Vincent’s is in the top spot in Class AA after defeating Coosa 3-0 for the title last season. It marked the second state title in school history, the first being when St. Vincent’s elected to play up in Class AAAAA and took the title in 2003. Coosa debuts in the No. 2 spot with Rockmart, which fell to Coosa 3-2 in the semifinals, in third.

Calvary Day debuts in the top spot after defeating Savannah Christian 3-2 in the championship match last season. The Lady Cavaliers only dropped two sets throughout the bracket, both to No. 2 Savannah Christian. Landmark Christian, which fell to Savannah Christian in the semis, is third.
