Week 8 lacrosse rankings

Class 6A-7A boys No. 1 Lambert returned to action from an 11-day spring break hiatus and scored a 21-3 win over North Forsyth to improve to 12-1. The top-ranked Longhorns face three straight ranked opponents with West Forsyth, Cambridge and Lovett up next. Lassiter used a 17-11 win over Lovett to jump Johns Creek for No. 4, while Johns Creek’s 10-7 loss to Blessed Trinity dropped the Gladiators to No. 5. Mill Creek, Centennial, Milton and West Forsyth had the past week off.

In Class A-5A, Lovett’s 17-11 loss to Lassiter did not affect the standings. Blessed Trinity’s win over Johns Creek was enough to put the Titans in the top 5. No. 7 Starr’s Mill demolished Whitewater 17-2 on Wednesday to improve its winning streak to 11 games.

In girls Class 6A-7A, No. 6 Cambridge visits No. 4 Mill Creek Thursday night, while No. 7 Johns Creek gets set to host 10-2 Archer. No. 8 Northview will face No. 2 North Gwinnett on Friday and then will face Mill Creek next Thursday. Centennial knocked Pope out of the top 10 with a 12-4 victory over the Greyhounds on Monday. No. 10 Kennesaw Mountain awaits Pope on Friday and then will face Centennial next Thursday.

Blessed Trinity takes over No. 1 in the girls Class A-5A poll The Titans last defeated Westminster 21-8 on March 30 and have been off for the past two weeks. Blessed Trinity’s remaining schedule includes St. Pius, Northview, Johns Creek and Greater Atlanta Christian. No. 5 St. Pius scored a 16-10 win over No. 6 Marist on Tuesday.
