Top performances from Week 9: Freshmen Lawrence, Walker making early impact

Trevor Lawrence and Chase Walker proved last week that it's never too early to throw for 400 yards or rush for 300.

They had the games of their short careers on Friday - both are freshmen - and lead this week's Top Individual Performances.

Lawrence is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound quarterback who many college coaches already know about. He already has a profile on 247Sports.

"He's a big-time quarterback," Cartersville coach Joey King said. "Trevor throws a good ball and sees the field very well. He is good enough with his feet to keep plays alive, and his composure and maturity for a freshman are very impressive."

Walker is a 5-8, 175-pound fullback on the verge of a 1,000-yard season. He has run for 875 yards and nine touchdowns for a 3-4 team. Southeast Bulloch coach Pat Collins says Walker has been a catalyst in the team's three-game winning streak, but wants to make sure he maintains a level head.

"Chase Walker has been the beneficiary of solid offensive line play," Collins said. "He has learned how to stay behind offensive linemen and continue to work for yardage. ... I am impressed that Chase is quick to share his success, especially with the offensive linemen, and has remained humble as recognition has come his way."
