Toombs County football hires Richmond Hill's Guy

Lyman Guy, who first head coach to make a consistent winner out of Richmond Hill on the Georgia coast, was approved as the  head football coach at Toombs County on Saturday.

Guy’s Richmond Hill teams improved from 3-7 the season before he took the job to 4-6, 6-4, 8-3 and 10-2 in Guy's four seasons. The 2013 finish was the school’s first 10-win season in history, which began in 1986. Richmond Hill competes in Class AAAAA.

Guy also was head coach at Robert Toombs Academy and led that GISA school to state championships in 2003 and 2004. Toombs Academy is less than three miles from Toombs County High in Lyons.

Guy will replace Robert Versprille, who was dismissed after one season because of off-the-field misconduct. Toombs County, a AA school, was 4-6 in 2013.
