Last week, we looked into the log-jam in Region 7-7A as the final week of regular season action arrived. Region 7 remains one of the few conferences that is yet to solidify its seeding heading into the playoffs. This Tuesday, Norcross scored a 2-1 win over Berkmar that kept the Patriots from clinching the region title. Instead, Berkmar enters the second half of its postponed game with Meadowcreek tied 1-1 and needs a victory to prevent Brookwood from taking the region title. Elsewhere in the region, Norcross can clinch the No. 3 seed with a Meadowcreek loss. If Meadowcreek beats Berkmar, then the Mustangs will get the No. 3 seed and Norcross will take the No. 4.

Pebblebrook (Region 2), Kennesaw Mountain (Region 3), Walton (Region 4), Lambert (Region 5), Peachtree Ridge (Region 6) and Grayson (Region 8) have already clinched the top seeds. The first round of action in Class 7A along with Class 5A and 6A opens next Friday, April 28.

Class A-4A’s first-round action starts next Wednesday, April 26. Before the playoffs, several key games remain on the schedule. In Region 7-2A, Coosa visits Pepperell play for the region title Thursday night. Class 3A’s focus centers around Region 7. East Hall, Dawson County and Greater Atlanta Christian can force a potential three-way tie at the top of the region. Fannin County has already clinched the No. 4 seed with its 5-2 win over North Hall.
