Lacrosse: Knights edge Lassiter; West Forsyth girls dominate Norcross

Here are some highlights from top teams and performers in GHSA lacrosse:

Boys: The Centennial Knights are AAAAAA's No. 5-ranked team and defeated Lassiter 10-9 to improve to 11-3 and 7-3 in Region 3. They were led by junior attackers Nathan Solomon (3 goals, 2 assists) and Brendan Spence (3 goals). Junior goalie Austin Skorb had 9 saves. ... AAAAAA's No. 8-ranked Peachtree Ridge Lions improved to 10-3 and 7-0 with a pair of wins over Parkview and Grayson. They were led by junior attacker Ben Briggette (7 goals, 4 ground balls), senior midfielder Jacob Lee (6 goals, 15 faceoff wins) and freshman midfielder Zane Ashley (3 goals, 2 assists). ... The No. 2 ranked Westminster Wildcats beat Creekview 13-3 thanks to junior attacker Levi Laseter, who scored 6 goals, and senior midfielder Read Ziegler (3 goals). The Wildcats are 13-2 and 5-0 in Region 2-AAAAA-A. ... The Pace Academy Knights improved to 8-6 and 6-2 in Region 1 AAAAA-A with a 13-8 win over Starr's Mill, led by junior midfielder Matthew Tanenblatt's 6 goals and 2 assists. ... The No. 6-ranked Decatur Bulldogs lost to AAAAAA's No. 4-ranked Walton 8-7 and beat North Atlanta 17-7. Goalie Jordan Mudd had 10 saves and Nick Bentley and Deangelo Watkins each scored 2 goals against Walton. ... The No. 9-ranked Cambridge Bears have likely fallen out of the top 10 with a pair of losses to Northview and Fellowship Christian, falling to 10-5 and 7-3 in Region 3 AAAAA-A. Freshman Tyler Werth led the team with 4 goals and 2 assists.

Girls: North Gwinnett Lady Bulldogs coach Lindsey Gipson and her team faced off against Gipson's Alma Mater and former coach in AAAAA-A's No. 3-ranked Northview, but lost 13-8. Freshman midfielders Liz Blumthal (4 goals; 30 on the season) and Haley Gorke (4 draw controls, 2 forced turnovers) and senior goalie Victoria DelNero (12 saves) led the Lady Bulldogs, who fell to 9-5 and 3-1 in Region 4-AAAAAA. ... The Starr's Mill Lady Panthers are ranked No. 9 in Class AAAAA-A and defeated Grady this week 20-7. Top performers were junior attacker Anna Voso (4 goals, 2 assists) and junior midfielder Jess Ward (3 goals, 3 forced turnovers, 3 draw controls). The Lady Panthers improved to 11-1 and 8-0 in Region 1. ... The Holy Innocents Lady Golden Bears improved to 7-4 and 6-1 in Region 1 AAAAA-A with a 14-8 win over Lovett. They were led by senior midfielder and captain Annie Bennett (6 goals) and senior goalie and captain Clara Forrestal (8 saves). ... The Mill Creek Lady Hawks - ranked No. 5 in AAAAAA - defeated Grayson 20-6 to improve to 7-5 and 4-0 in Region 4. They were led by junior midfielder Maddie Beck (4 goals, 2 assists), senior midfielder Emily Hallberg (5 goals) and junior Maddie Peek (5 goals, 1 assist). ... The West Forsyth Lady Wolverines - ranked No. 7 in AAAAAA - improved to 10-3 and 4-0 in Region 3 with a pair of wins over Lambert and Norcross, defeating Norcross 23-0. Junior attackers Monica Martelli (8 goals) and McKinley Puckett (5 goals) and junior midfielder Erika Cross (5 goals) led the Lady Wolverines.
