How the new top 10 teams fared in Week 7

Class AAAAAA

1. (1) Colquitt County (6-0)

Last week: Beat Lowndes 45-27. Sihiem King rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries, and Chase Parrish was 16-of-21 passing for 169 yards and one touchdown. Javarious Madison had two interception returns deep into Lowndes territory, setting up 10 points. Next: Friday vs. Lee County (5-0)

2. (4) Grayson (6-0)

Last week: Beat South Gwinnett 42-0. Grayson held South Gwinnett to 47 yards of total offense. Cameryn Brent rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Next: Friday at Shiloh (1-4)

3. (5) Valdosta (6-0)

Last week: Beat Camden County 13-10. Valdosta had only 12 yards of total offense in the first half and trailed 10-6 but scored on its first possession of the second half and held on. Linebackers Todd Bradley and John Eagler each had 10 solo tackles and two stops behind the line for a defense that has allowed only 20 points (3.3 per game). Next: Friday at Tift County (5-1)

4. (6) Hughes (4-1)

Last week: Beat Campbell 38-7. Hughes scored 24 points in the second quarter after a scoreless first. Sophomore QB Isaiah Green was 9-of-15 passing for 175 yards and two touchdowns. DT Deonte Jackson had three tackles for losses. Next: Friday at East Coweta (4-1)

5. (8) Dacula (6-0)

Last week: Beat Central Gwinnett 20-10. Dacula returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the first quarter, one by C.J. Mayes, the other by Azeem Cooper. Mayes rushed for 125 yards. Next: Oct. 17 at Brookwood (2-4)

6. (3) Lowndes (5-1)

Last week: Lost to Colquitt County 45-27. Lowndes allowed as many as 45 points in a game for the first time in the coach Randy McPherson era. But Lowndes led in total yards 345-298 and first downs 18-16 but suffered three devastating turnovers to Colquitt's one. Dezmon Copeland rushed for 147 yards on nine carries. 7. (2) Camden County (5-1)

Last week: Lost to Valdosta 13-10. Kevon Brewington scored on a 41-yard run in the first half, after which Camden led 10-7, but Camden didn't score again. Next: Friday at Lowndes (5-1)

8. (NR) Milton (4-1)

Last week: Beat Etowah 37-12. Micco Brisker rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Austin McLeod was 17-of-17 passing for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Milton held Raishod Devezin to 29 yards and Etowah to no first downs in the first half. Next: Friday vs. Cherokee (5-1)

9. (NR) Norcross (5-1)

Last week: Beat North Gwinnett 17-10.Norcross won a rematch of the 2013 state-title game and held North Gwinnett, the state's leading passing team, to 176 yards in the air. Norcross recovered a fumbled punt in the third quarter, threw a 40-yard pass to the North 6-yard line and scored to go up 14-7. Jacob Gassert's 86-yard TD pass to Jared Pinkney on a second-and-46 gave Norcross a 7-0 lead. Next: Friday vs. Meadowcreek (1-5)

10. (9) McEachern (3-2)

Last week: Beat Marietta 37-23. Sophomore WR Tyler Smith had 10 catches for 260 yards and three touchdowns. Bailey Hockman was 18-of-31 passing for 368 yards and four touchdowns. Next: Friday at North Cobb (4-2)

Last week: Beat Mays 13-7. Bricen Terry rushed for 176 yards on 40 carries. Mays had the ball inside Creekside's 30-yard line in the final two minutes but was turned away. Next: Friday at Carver-Atlanta (5-1)

3. (3) Coffee (5-1)

Last week: Beat Statesboro 35-7. Sophomore RB Demetrius Davis rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. QB Tyree Paulk was 6-of-9 passing for 71 yards and two touchdowns, though he left the game with a sore shoulder. Jay Lott and freshman Jameon Gaskins each had three tackles for losses. 4. (5) Kell (6-0)

Last week: Beat North Springs 55-14. Itabari Mason rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. Next: Oct. 17 at Riverwood (4-2)

Last week: Beat Miller Grove 40-7. Ivonte Patterson rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, and Cortese Logan ran for 124 and one on four. Chauncey Rivers and Abrom Scales had two sacks each. Next: Friday at Dunwoody (3-2)

1. (1) Buford (5-0)

Last week: Beat Chestatee 54-7. Buford won its 30th consecutive game (or 33rd not counting forfeits) and rushed for 385 yards and six touchdowns on just 20 attempts, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. Joshua Thomas scored on runs of 61 and 79 yards in the first half, and Xavier Gantt had a 77-yard TD run. Next: Friday vs. North Hall (0-5)

Last week: Beat Heritage-Ringgold 51-6. Cartersville returned two interceptions for touchdowns of 70 or more yards, one by Bryce Gober (70), the other by Kobie Whitfield (73). Trevor Lawrence was 13-of-15 passing for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Next: Friday vs. Ridgeland (3-2)

Last week: Beat Monroe 38-8. Thomas Central led 17-0 at halftime after a pair of touchdown runs by Nick Patterson, then recovered a Monroe fumble in the end zone for a 24-0 lead just seconds into the second half. Thomas Central later would score another touchdown after a Monroe fumble. Next: Friday vs. Albany (0-5)

Last week: Beat Adairsville 42-10. In a game between unbeaten teams, QB Kaelen Riely was 14-of-23 passing for 224 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown. 2. (3) Vidalia (6-0)

Last week: Beat Long County 42-0. Vidalia led 35-0 at halftime. QB Jordan Black rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries. Black has 10 rushing touchdowns on just 46 attempts this season. Next: Oct. 17 at Benedictine (4-1).

3. (4) Lovett (4-2)

Last week: Beat Fitzgerald 22-19. Thomasville trailed 19-15 at halftime and scored the winning touchdown midway in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard run by Jalandin Jones, who rushed for 116 yards. Thomasville had a chance earlier in the quarter on a fourth-and-goal from the 5. Thomasville lined up for a field goal but tried to run it in and was stopped. It was Thomasville's first victory at Fitzgerald since 2003. Next: Friday vs. Pelham (3-2)

Last week: Lost to Thomasville 22-19. Fitzgerald was held scoreless after leading 19-15 at halftime. Next: Oct. 17 at Brooks County (4-2)

Last week: Beat Model 21-14. Trey Edge scored on a draw play on third-and-11 from the Model 16 in overtime, and Darlington's defense held the lead. Model, which entered undefeated, led in total yards 221-109, according to the Rome Tribune, but lost a critical fumble at the Model 8-yard line that Darlington converted into a score for a 14-14 tie. 10. (9) Screven County (6-0)

Last week: Beat Harlem 53-0. Screven led 40-0 at halftime. Malik Prescott rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Screven intercepted two passes, blocked a punt and ran a fumble 41 yards. Next: Friday at East Laurens (2-2-1)

Last week: Beat Hancock Central 31-6. Ruben Garnett rushed for 136 yards, Liam Welch passed for 186 (8-for-11, one touchdown) and Daniel Lindsey had six catches for 103 yards. DE William Evans had four tackles for losses. Next: Friday at Georgia Military College (1-4)

2. (2) Marion County (5-0)

Last week: Beat Pacelli 21-18. Johnny Royal's 71-yard TD run with 8:38 left made it 21-12. Pacelli missed a 22-yard field goal, an extra point and two two-point conversion attempts. Next: Friday at Brookstone (3-2)

3. (3) Mount Paran Christian (5-0)

Last week: Beat Charlton County 41-14. Jakyron Young rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and ran an interception back 95 yards on the game's final play. Robert Moore ran for 143 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. It was the second blowout of a Top 10 team in two weeks. Irwin beat Clinch County 47-7 on Sept. 19.
