Four Questions with Lambert coach Louis Daniel

GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.

Louis Daniel, Lambert

1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach?"This is a very tough one. However, it would probably have to be the 2010 Lambert game against Rome. It was Lambert's first varsity season, and in order to clinch a playoff spot we had to beat a tough Rome team the ninth game of the year. We were fortunate enough to prevail that night with a score of 28-7. Making the playoffs our first varsity season still to this day means a great deal to me."

2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why?"I have had the honor to work with a great many wonderful coaches over the years. The first name that comes to mind is Sid Maxwell. I had the opportunity to play (four years) as well as coach for him (nine years at Sequoyah and five at Lambert). His commitment to the profession is second to none. I have personally learned a great deal from him over the past 24 years."

3. What is your pet peeve as a coach or favorite saying/motto?"I don't care for a selfish football player. As we all know, football is a team game. Each member of the team should be committed to the same set of goals and place the team before any individual goal they may have. Stats, positions, touches, reps, etc., are all secondary to the overall success of the team."

4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed?"I am not a fan of the six-quarter rule dealing with sub-varsity games. I respect and understand the spirit of the rule, but I think it could be tweaked a little. A few special teams plays should not count as a quarter, in my opinion. We are all trying to develop football players, and missing sub-varsity time I don't believe is fair if the athlete contributed very little to a varsity contest."
