GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Antonio Andrews, Griffin
1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach?"As a coach here at Griffin High School, I have been a part of a whole bunch of big games. The one that stands out the most was the state championship game in 2013 against Carrollton. After being down 21-7 in the first quarter and to see how our kids kept their composure through it all and eventually beating Carrollton 56-35 for the state championship is the single most exciting game that I have been a part of. Great memory for me and a great memory for the entire Griffin Bear Nation!" [Griffin QB Jaquez Parks passed for 338 yards and rushed for 216 in the victory.]
2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why?"Dale Jones. Coach Jones was my defensive coordinator when I played at Georgia Military College. Coach Jones was a perfectionist. He demanded perfection. My teammates and I were afraid to make mistakes. We were always dialed in because we knew that coach Jones was right there watching and he wasn't going to have it. He made sure that we were mentally and emotionally ready for every game that we played. Coach Jones helped me become a better man, and I love him for that still to this day. He is currently an assistant coach at Appalachian State University. I would love for my son to play for him because I know first-hand that coach Jones coaches hard but loves his players harder."
3. What is your pet peeve as a coach or favorite saying/motto?"'Work Hard, Win Easy.' I am a 100-percent believer in that saying. I think a person can be as good as they want to be in whatever they want to be good in. Hard work is the key. It's just a matter of how hard do you want to work at it. A person can't expect to win a battle or pass a test if they haven't worked hard enough to do so. When a person is 100 percent prepared and has every angle covered on the test or game or whatever it is, that person's chances of winning will be a lot better than the person who did not put the work in."
4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed?"Play time clock. There should be a visible play clock at every high school game. This clock should be monitored by an official."
