1. What is the real difference-maker in winning and losing in Georgia high school football? "There are levels of winning. At the highest level, you must have talented players, a knowledgeable coaching staff and a support system (district, school, community) that all perform their roles at a high, efficient level."
2. Which player that you've coached is memorable mostly for his character or inspiration? "Ben Kittler, class of 2013, was a spirited, hard-hitting linebacker. He wasn't shy about speaking out and providing some player leadership. He worked hard and set the tone for practice each day. He didn't hesitate to hold teammates accountable as he would himself."
3. What is the best atmosphere for a high school game that you've experienced away from home? "During our early years (2009-10) when we had only ninth and 10th graders, we played down at Cairo. Our kids were in awe of the community support and the fact that the town actually shut down for a football game. The fans had a high football IQ and were loud, but very respectful. It was quite a scene."
4. As a player or coach at any level, which game do you wish you could play again? "My body at 45 couldn't take another full game on any level. LOL. However, to replay my first college game with the experience I have now with the body I had then would be awesome. Playing college football was rewarding (played at Winston-Salem State), and to start that path again with different insight would be interesting."
