McIntosh County Academy, in the state finals for the first time, and Benedictine are the ninth and 10th coastal Georgia teams to make the finals in the past 10 seasons. Coastal teams haven't always been so successful. From 1970 to 2003, only one reached the championship game. That was Brunswick, which lost in the 1999 Class AAAA final to Lowndes. MCA could become the sixth to win a state title since 2000.
