Class AAA picture becomes a bit clearer in Week 10

What did Week 10 of the high school football season show us? Some teams are right where they should be in the Class AAA ratings. Others are trying to regain form after playing through injuries. And all of them are trying to get the No. 1 seed for the playoffs.

Consider:

-- Top-ranked Greater Atlanta Christian kept its region play spotless with a 42-14 victory against North Hall. Stanford commitment Davis Mills put on a show, going 23-of-31 passing for 336 yards and six touchdowns. Four of those came in the first half. Receiver Harrison Sloane caught seven passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns. It seems Mills and the Spartans are peaking at the perfect time, and it might not be pretty for an opposing No. 4 seed entering the playoffs.

-- Third-ranked Westminster (6-2, 4-0) all but staked its claim to the Region 5 title after a 17-10 victory against Lovett (5-3, 3-2). The Wildcats last title came in 2007, which sounds odd to say for the defending state champion. But Westminster proved last season that anything can happen in the playoffs. Westminster entered the postseason with four losses and won it all. The Wildcats will face Towers next week. Lovett has Pace Academy.

-- Speaking of Pace ... The Knights seem to have battled back from a downward trend after losing to Westminster (49-36) and Cedar Grove (49-0). On Friday night, Pace defeated McNair 45-7 to get back on track. The reigning Class AA champions have fought through injuries on the offensive and defensive lines.

-- No. 2 Peach County (7-1, 4-0) took care of winless Kendrick 42-0 in an absolute romp. Peach County has shut out three consecutive opponents -- Central-Macon (48-0), Rutland (45-0) and winless Kendrick. It's the first time that has happened at Peach since 1993. The Trojans will head to Pike County (5-3, 2-2) next week. A matchup against a strong Jackson team is on the horizon.

Here are how the other top teams fared:

No. 4 Calhoun (6-2, 3-0) moved past Sonoraville 34-0.

No. 6 Crisp County (8-0, 2-0) defeated Cook 47-14 to remain perfect on the season.

No. 7 Cedar Grove (5-2, 3-1) will face Stone Mountain Saturday night.

No. 8 Liberty County (7-1, 3-0) defeated Long County 39-12.
