Basketball rankings: No. 1 teams go 38-0 week before region tournaments

No. 1-ranked high school basketball teams were 38-0 last week, and each held onto their top spots in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll entering region tournaments this week.

The No. 1 boys teams are McEachern (AAAAAAA), South Paulding (AAAAAA), Buford (AAAAA), Upson-Lee (AAAA), Westside-Macon (AAA), South Atlanta (AA), Greenforest Christian (A private) and Calhoun County (A public).

No. 1 girls teams are Norcross (AAAAAAA), Northview (AAAAAA), Griffin (AAAAA), Cross Creek (AAAA), Beach (AAA), Laney (AA), Holy Innocents’ (A private) and Pelham (A public).

New boys teams in the rankings are Grayson for Peachtree Ridge in AAAAAAA, Lakeside-Evans for Richmond Hill in AAAAAA and Riverwood and Eagle’s Landing for New Hampstead and Flowery Branch in AAAAA, Westover for Eastside in AAAA, Early County and Banks County for Therrell and Glenn Hills in AA and First Presbyterian Day for Tattnall Square in A private.

In the girls rankings, Johns Creek replaced Gainesville in AAAAAA; Bainbridge replaced Harris County in AAAAA; and Hancock Central replaced Taylor County in A public.
