Updated baseball: 7A series moved to Parkview, rest to Rome

Except for the highest classification, all remaining games in the high school baseball best-of-three championship series will be played at State Mutual Stadium in Rome, the GHSA has announced.

Weather issues this week and the lack of other available sites led to the move to Rome, where the weather forecast is better than for other parts of the state in the next couple of days.

The Class AAAAAAA final between Parkview and Mill Creek will go to Parkview. That doubleheader will begin Thursday at 3 p.m with a potential third game on Friday.

The rest are in Rome.

The schedule for Wednesday will include the deciding third games in Classes AAAA and AAA. Cartersville and Jefferson will meet for the AAAA title at 5 p.m. Cobb County rivals Allatoona and Pope will follow in AAAAAA at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Also in Rome, Atlanta private schools Westminster and Lovett will meet to decide the Class AAA championship at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

The original schedule had games being played in Rome, Athens, Macon and Savannah this week, but only four of the eight series (including those in Savannah) were played to completion. Any tickets purchased in advance for games at the University of Georgia or Mercer University will be honored in Rome.

The four championships that have been decided involved two-game sweeps. Loganville beat Buford in Class AAAA, Benedictine beat Berrien in AA, Tattnall Square beat Prince Avenue Christian in Class A Private, and Gordon Lee beat Telfair County in Class A Public.
