Do sororities strengthen women or stereotype them?

A video by a former Syracuse University sorority member criticizing the priorities of sororities is striking a nerve nationwide.

I have written about frats/sororities related to binge drinking -- Greek members do more of it than other college students -- and hazing.

Such columns typically spark two types of responses. The first is a spirited defense of the good deeds Greek organizations do on campuses. The second is an accusation that I hate sororities. I don't think my college even had sororities, but it never would have crossed my mind to pledge. I hate costume parties, never wanted a little sister and prefer to pick my friends one at a time rather than in a jumbo pack.
