Lakeside High School parents and students are concerned with violent threats made on the image messaging application Snapchat.
The messages warned of a school shooting, leading the PTA to send this message to families late Thursday night on behalf of principal Damian Bounds:

Mr. Bounds has asked us to let you all know that Lakeside High School and the DeKalb County School District are aware of the current social media threats. Please be assured that there will be extra police officers on duty at Lakeside High School tomorrow, Friday, March 2.
The safety of our students is paramount. Please know that the school and the county are staying on top of these issues. Thank you for your continued support.
Twitter postings about the Snapchat threats began early in the evening Thursday.
Earlier this week, the AJC reported a DeKalb County middle school student earned a three-day in-school suspension after he was seen cocking a gun in a Snapchat video captioned "Don't come to school tomorrow."
According to a note sent to parents from Peachtree Charter Middle School, school officials were made aware of the Snapchat post Sunday, and it was thoroughly investigated, with the administrative action decided Monday. Parents, students and school officials have been on high alert since the Feb. 14 shooting at a South Florida high school killed 17 and injured more than a dozen more.
