Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson’s contract extension is final and defensive lineman Jabari Hunt-Days won’t play in the Orange Bowl. Now for the real news – the Yellow Jackets won’t be wearing their traditional white jerseys when they play Mississippi State.
The Jackets will debut, sort of, new jerseys when they take the field at Sun Life Stadium Dec. 31. Tech has had navy and gold jerseys in stock since getting new white jerseys prior to the 2013 season, but has yet to wear them. The last time Tech wore a non-white jersey was the 2012 Sun Bowl, when the Jackets wore the navy “honeycomb” jerseys in defeating USC.
Tech also wore navy previously in a bowl game in the 2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl against LSU.
I’m not sure if it’ll be navy or gold, but I believe it’ll be navy. Interestingly, it was Tech’s choice, as the ACC team is designated as the home team.
Mississippi State will wear uniforms designed by Adidas for the bowl game. The team wore a special maroon uniform for its season opener to commemorate the 100th year of Scott Field, and the all-white uniform that the Bulldogs will wear in Miami is a complement.
