Tech-Georgia rivalry continues tonight with softball

The Georgia Tech softball team is playing rival Georgia Wednesday night at Mewborn Field, a game that is being broadcast online on ESPN3.

The Bulldogs are ranked No. 8 nationally with a record of 24-5. Tech is 11-15 and has lost four in a row to Georgia.

Over the academic year, save two noteworthy wins by the Tech football and men’s basketball teams (which some would say are the only two – or one – that matter) the overall series between the two athletic departments in head-to-head matchups has leaned toward Athens. That said, given various advantages enjoyed by Georgia over Tech in athletics, wins in three sports with the potential for two more is not a bad year. (And, again, some would say that the result from Nov. 29 overrides everything.)

The series will be completed for the year with one more softball game (April 8 in Athens) and three baseball games (March 31 in Athens, April 14 at Tech at May 12 at Turner Field).
