Tech's blue jerseys 'so nice'

It isn’t that Georgia Tech safety Isaiah Johnson doesn’t like the white jerseys that the team wears. It’s just that it’s all the Yellow Jackets typically wear. As such, he and many teammates are excited about the navy blue jerseys that the team will wear in Wednesday’s Orange Bowl.

“It’s just a different color,” Johnson said at Monday’s media day. “That’s pretty much what it is. Every game, home and away, we wear white. So we wanted to switch it up. We could have worn gold and that would have been fine.”

Players were in their blue jerseys at the media event, similar in style to the white jerseys in pattern with gold numbers and trim.

“It’s about time,” Johnson said, eagerness in his voice. “I’m glad I get to wear it for my last game.”

It will be the first time Tech has worn a non-white jersey since the 2012 Sun Bowl.

“They’re so nice,” linebacker Quayshawn Nealy said. “A lot of guys have been wanting to play in the blue for the longest and we’re finally playing in them. Hopefully we show up in them.”
