Georgia Tech announced Thursday that former Stanford fullback Patrick Skov has signed a grant-in-aid agreement to play his final season at Tech, making his decision official. He'll have immediate eligibility to play one season.

Skov will graduate from Stanford in June with a degree in international relations and has been admitted to Tech’s MBA program. At Stanford, Skov played 39 games in three seasons, rushing 14 times for 25 yards and four touchdowns. He was twice named to the Pac-12's all-academic first team.

Skov’s addition is entirely timely. The Jackets are without a B-back with previous experience and the expected starter, C.J. Leggett, is out for the season with a torn ACL. Quaide Weimerskich's status is uncertain following foot surgery in the spring. Tech will have two incoming freshmen B-backs in Marcus Marshall and Mikell Lands-Davis.

“We’re excited to have Patrick come and be a part of our program,” coach Paul Johnson said last week. “I really enjoyed getting to meet him when he was here for a brief time on a visit. I think he’s a very mature young man, very well-spoken. He gives us a little older, more mature guy at that position.”

Johnson said the plan will be for Skov to arrive over the summer, which will give him time to start learning the offense from teammates.

“I think it’ll go pretty smoothly,” Johnson said. “I think he’s a young man who’s played a lot of football, and he’s got a good football IQ. You can tell from talking to him.”
