Georgia Tech scouting reports: Jodan Price

As Georgia Tech men’s basketball coach Josh Pastner rolls through scouting reports on each scholarship player on this team, one thing continues to pop up: points.

The team has to be smart in its shot selection because there isn't a go-to scorer.

The second thing is the players need to give total effort in everything from rebounding, to avoiding turnovers, to taking good shots.

The margin of error for earning wins will be very small.

Over the next few days, I’ll post player-by-player scouting reports on the team as it prepares for its exhibition opener against Shorter on Nov. 5 at McCamish Pavilion.

The Yellow Jackets went 21-15 overall, 8-10 in the ACC under previous coach Brian Gregory.

Jodan Price

Class: Graduate Student.

Position: Guard/Forward.

Height: 6-6.

High school: Detroit Country Day/DePaul/Eastern Michigan.

Career averages

Points: 4.3

Shooting percentage: 30.2

3-point percentage: 28.5

Rebounds: 1.7

Miscellaneous: Totals of 22 assists and 36 turnovers in 63 games. … A 64.1 percent free-throw shooter. … Has averaged 15.8 minutes in past two seasons.

Coach Josh Pastner’s take: Bottom line is he’s got to make shots. If he doesn’t make shots he doesn’t help us. He’s got to put the ball in the basket. There’s no other way to put it. If he’s not making shots he’ll be sitting with me all year long.
