Draft update: Will Jackson

Will Jackson deserves credit for this much – he has wrung out the value of his scholarship. The former Georgia Tech guard stayed at Tech for five full years, earning a management degree and getting two semesters into an MBA. He played 48 games, starting 42, landed an investment banking internship that earned him a job offer and pulled down the grades that helped him obtain a postgraduate scholarships from the ACC and membership in a National Football Foundation honor society.

And he may get a chance to play in the NFL. Jackson said that his agent has heard from 12 or 13 teams who indicated their interest in him. Houston, Jacksonville, Miami, St. Louis, Chicago, Arizona and the Falcons are among teams that Jackson said have contacted his agent, John Hernandez.

At 6-foot-3 and 304 pounds, Jackson projects as an interior lineman. While he didn’t play center, he has been working on snapping to make himself a more viable candidate for the position. Jackson’s chance would likely come as an undrafted free agent.

“At this point, I’ve got a pretty solid body of work to go off of,” he said. “It’s just a matter of one of the 32 teams liking me enough to give me an opportunity to play.”
