Draft update: Robbie Godhigh

Former Georgia Tech A-back Robbie Godhigh and his agent have had a few NFL teams make contact with them recently to express interest and confirm contact information for the draft weekend. The New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs are among them.

“I don’t know how confident we that he would be drafted, but it looks like a team’s going to give Robbie a shot, which is all we would ask for and all he wants,” agent Adam Bakow said.

A representative of the Giants went so far as to ask Godhigh what airport he flies out of, which would seem to be a demonstration that the team’s interest is more than cursory.

In mid-April, Godhigh attended a mini-camp/tryout with the Montreal Alouettes, who worked him out privately the day after Tech’s pro day in March. The team was interested in signing him, but he said he wanted to wait to see what happened with the NFL draft first.

It is a relief to Godhigh, though, that he has a fallback plan if the NFL decides to pass. Going from a productive CFL career to the NFL is not an untried route.

You may recall that former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson was in the same camp, signing with the team after the tryout.

“He was cool,” Godhigh said. “He was kind of in the same boat as me, trying to learn all the plays and everything. He was up there doing what he does. It was fun to watch.”
