Brian Gregory takes ice bucket challenge

Georgia Tech basketball coach Brian Gregory didn’t just take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, a fund-raiser to benefit the fight against the insidious disease. With typical enthusiasm, Gregory was dumped with four buckets of ice water by his very willing players, posting a video to his Twitter account Saturday afternoon.

The challenge has sped around social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, creating awareness and donations for the ALS Association. In Gregory’s video, the coach accepted the challenge made by a Tech season ticket holder, paying homage to the mother of former Tech player and staff member Jon Babul, who is diagnosed with the disease. Gregory said he had also made a donation to the charity before getting water dumped on him by Yellow Jackets players Marcus Georges-Hunt, Abdoulaye Gueye, Charles Mitchell and Demarco Cox.

Gregory then challenged Tech women’s basketball coach MaChelle Joseph, Dayton women’s basketball coach Jim Jabir and Oakland University basketball coach Greg Kampe, who coached Gregory in college.
