Weekend road work: Have pity on Cobb County

Cobb County will continue to suffer some of the region’s worst construction-related traffic headaches this weekend as work continues on the I-75 northwest express lanes. But most of the work will be at night.

Here’s a look at how construction could affect your travel plans this weekend, courtesy of the Georgia Department of Transportation:

Northwest Corridor Express Lanes

There will be a traffic shift from 7 p.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Saturday on Terrell Mill Road from Water Place NW to Woodchase Lane.

I-575

One southbound lane will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday from Sixes Road to Ridgewalk Parkway.

One southbound lane will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday from Ga. 92 to Hawkins Stroe Road.

I-75

Three southbound lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday from South Marietta Parkway to Delk Road.

Two southbound lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday from Windy Hill to Windy Ridge Parkway.

One southbound lane will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday from Chastain Road to Big Shanty Road.

One northbound lane will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday from Wade Green Road to Woodstock Road.

A partial northbound lane closure will occur from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday at the entrance ramp to Chastain Road.

One northbound lane will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday from Chastain Road to Shiloh Road.

Traffic pacing will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday southbound from Chastain Road to Hickory Grove Road.

Traffic pacing will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday northbound from Ga. 92 to Hickory Grove Road.

Two northbound lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from I-675 to Lake Spivey/Ga. 138.

One southbound lane will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from Lake Spivey/Ga. 138 to I-675.

I-285

Three westbound lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday from New Northside Drive to Cobb Parkway.

Various northbound lanes will be closed at night from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from Bolton Road to Hollowell Parkway/Ga. 8/U.S. 278.

The exit at Bolton Road will be closed at night from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

I-85 Express Lanes

One lane will be closed in each direction from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday from Ga. 20 to Gravel Springs Road.

One lane will be closed in each direction from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday on Ga. 20 at the on-ramp at the I-85 interchange.

Ga. 400

Two alternating lanes will be closed in each direction from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday from Mansell Road to Haynes Bridge Road.

I-20

One eastbound lane will be closed at night from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday from Salem Road/Ga. 162 to Almon Road in Newton County.

One westbound lane will be closed at night from 9 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday from Almon Road to Salem Road/Ga. 162 in Newton County.
