A malfunction with a southbound ramp meter that allows traffic to trickle onto Ga. 400 from Northridge Road caused a major backup on Tuesday morning.

A technician was working on the issue Tuesday and that the ramp meter will be fixed by Wednesday morning's rush hour, according to a spokesperson for the state Department of Transportation.

The ramp meters had been out of service for a little more than a year while construction has been ongoing at the interchange. It was reactivated last Monday, according to Natalie Dale, a spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
