Drivers on I-75 in Cobb County are in for what may be one of their worst traffic weeks.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday, three lanes will close on I-75 southbound between South Marietta Parkway and Delk Road for bridge work on the Northwest Corridor express lanes project. The closures are expected to last until 5 a.m. Thursday. They continue from 8 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday and again from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday.

In addition, Thursday may give drivers an added headache as a traffic pace is scheduled at 1 p.m. for rock blasting. It will take place on I-75 northbound from the I-75/I-575 interchange to Big Shanty Road and between Wade Green Road and Big Shanty Road along I-75 southbound. The work is also a part of the northwest corridor project.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution in construction areas.
