Cobb and Gwinnett County residents have new options for commuting to the Perimeter Center area beginning this week.

The State Road and Tollway Authority Tuesday launched new Xpress bus routes from Cobb's Town Center park and ride (Route 482) and Gwinnett's Sugarloaf Mills Park and ride (Route 417). Both new routes are free through Aug. 14.

The new routes come as Georgia is rebuilding the intersection of I-285 and Ga. 400 in the Perimeter Center area.

“We have been looking forward to this day for a long time, and we are excited to expand the transportation options for workers in Perimeter,” SRTA Executive Director Chris Tomlinson said in a statement announcing the new routes.

After Aug. 14, fares will cost $4 one way or $7 round trip.  Ten-trip and monthly discounted passes are available.  Passes can be purchased online, in person or through MARTA’s Breeze card.  Free transfers to MARTA are available to Xpress customers who use the Breeze card to pay their fare.
