Forsyth County to get some traffic relief

A five-mile-long portion of Bethelview Road west of Cumming will be widened and reconstructed as the largest of $67.6 million worth of road work contracts awarded this week in Georgia.

Georgia Department of Transportation awarded 24 contracts statewide, including $3 million for improving safety on local roads and about $4.6 million for two bridge projects.

The Bethelview Road project will focus on widening the roadway, adding a raised median and turn lanes along the segment between Castleberry Road and Ga. Highway 20. It will cost $36.9 million and be completed by July 2019. The project includes the construction of a bridge over Big Creek.

Since January, Georgia DOT has awarded 115 major construction contracts valued at more than $464 million.

Details on all awarded projects can be found through the Award Announcement Downloads link: https://www.bidx.com/ga/lettings.
